Often, one of the prerequisites [1] required for the hard work needed is self belief and confidence in your own abilities. Underestimating and down playing your ability and motivation will create a barrier to you acting towards your goals and objectives, and so recognizing the importance that confidence plays is vital.

Success is as much about how we view our lives and the things that happen to us within them than any of the other factors. The way we perceive 'luck' or being 'in the right place at the right time' sheds some light on to this. The most successful people for example will often assign what others would view as entirely derived from luck or chance to opportunities that have arisen out of hard work. The point of this is to demonstrate the importance of our own outlook and psyche in the actions we take and consequent success we have.In the following article, I'll present three simple techniques or tricks to keep in mind to ensure you have the outlook and frame of mind that is most conducive to success and achievement in your life.

The desire for success and achievement shouldn't come out of competition with other people. Such motivation is temporary, short lasting and ultimately unfulfilling. You'll set your sights on something else long before you achieve what you want to. So looking to other people for what qualities have made them successful misses one important step: the introspection and resulting realisation of the barriers within yourself to achieving.

Another important trick is to visualise what success is to you. Holding imagery of your objective will help prevent you from becoming confused and disenfranchised along the way. It's easy to visualise the exact opposite though: we can clearly see what would be the result if we were to fail. It's a thought that holds us back. But it shouldn't. Holding a mental picture of success and what that realistically entails will be a lot more conducive to actually working towards those goals: it's something you want but don't have.
