Opencaching has been running in Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic for several years and although there are many parts of their websites that are available translated into English, there are parts still in German, Polish, etc. making the use of these sites somewhat difficult for the English-speaking caching community. This site's founder is grateful to Krzysztof ("trojmiasto") and Waldek ("sp2ong") from Opencaching Poland for their invaluable assistance in setting up the site. If you have caches listed on other sites, you're welcome to list them on Opencaching.org.uk as well. However, bear in mind that the other sites may have restrictions about such cross-listing, or links on cache pages. It is planned that a number of volunteers will be appointed by the users of the site to the "OC Team" who will act as moderators of the forum, advisers on cache placement, and necessary database management tasks, such as archiving abandoned cache listings.

About Geocaching

Geocaching is an outdoor sport or activity in which geocachers use a GPS receiver to find a "treasure" hidden by other participants. Caches are secured in watertight containers, containing inexpensive trading items and a logbook in which they record their discovery of the cache. The coordinates of the cache locations are stored in online databases such as Opencache.uk, along with the descriptions and instructions necessary to find them.

About Opencache.uk

Opencache.uk was initially set up by Lord Darcy, but he has now retired and in 2016 the site was upgraded to the latest version of the site provided by opencaching.pl with many thanks to deg and others who set up the new server, software and converted the database...

Unfortunately some data from June to November was lost in the migration, so if you added any caches or logged any finds during this period, please re-submit.

As of November, the site is led primarily by Amberel who is funding the hosting, with assistance from a team of admins. We welcome help and encourage lots of activity in setting and finding opencaches to help build this community,

The original domain, opencaching.org.uk is again pointing to the same server and should work as well as the new domain, opencache,uk
